Desma 9 URL Intro

For event number 3, I, and a few of my teammates, attended the Hammer Museum in Westwood. Going into the museum visit, I wasn't really sure what to expect, not knowing too much about the background of content inside. Once getting there, we learned that it was a museum with lots of artwork, arraying from pictures to paintings to drawings and mixes of the three. In the first gallery we walked through, we see a lot of paintings that were intriguing in their own ways. As you can see in the picture below, you see that the painting give off a sense of randomness, or don't have much artistic value behind them, but the closer you look you can notice how much each detail means. Looking at them closely, I noticed that each picture had little points that would change the dynamic of the picture if it weren't there. The topic of Nanotechnology is dealing with small atoms and molecules and what their meaning and importance is. As we look at the topic of nanotechnology we can see how such small items have large impacts in our lives. As most things throughout the quarter have, it can connect back to art in some form. One that is related to art, but also to everyones lives, we see that the smallest things can have large impacts in peoples lives. Nanotechnology is a very important form of technology and art.  Nanotech is interesting because it is so small, yet plays huge rolls in our lives. For example, nanotechnology is able to turn liquids to solids and flammable substance to non-flammable. As this possibility is provided we also learn how cancer treatment can be made better through nanotechnology. In particular, it was showed that bee venom could be used for treatment on individual cancer cells. The combination of art and the brain is extremely unique because they work together to create images in our mind. The way that our brain processes artwork is how we are able to create the image, and have thoughts on what the art is saying and showing us. Likewise, we can use art to create an image of what our brain looks like and what the processes look like. Neuroscience, being the study of the brain and the nervous system, is an art in and of itself due to the complexity and importance of both parts of the body.    I was blown away when I was watching the Ted Talk of Christopher deCharm. When he was showing the MRI of the brain while he was showing how the brain sees and feels the same thing. As the person started to move his arm, you could see the parts of his brain doing the same thing, and it would light up on the MRI scan. In this weeks blog section I found it very interesting because of how relevant it is to everyone. With the main point of the week being genome, we learned that it is a set of chromosomes and microorganisms. Many may think that this particular part of you isn't important, but in reality it may be the most important part of your body. The genome makes you different from everyone else on earth, and individualizes you from the rest. If the genome were to be absent, everyone would be the same person and we all know how different the world would be if that was the case. The different complexities and differences within the double helix is what makes us all different. To me, I find it very interesting that the genome is a human attribute but it is also turned into an art. Similar to my event #2, I can relate the fact that not all art works are originally made to be artwork, but instead are either human attributes or human creations that were turned into artworks. For Event #2 I visited the Fowler Museum on campus at UCLA. Within the Museum I was really intrigued by the history of the art that was within it and what different pieces of art were representing. First thing that I saw was a piece that spoke upon the history of the art in general. As you can see in the picture below, the artwork wasn't originally made to be pieces of art, but instead was made to fulfill needs in their everyday lives. People used to have to create things from nature in order to have needs with them that we can just order online today. These pieces had great appearances, so they were eventually given the title of "artwork". Next, I saw a section talking about woman's pieces of artwork. They had textures that were primarily made from the women at the time. The women made these for a very crucial part of the lives of the people during this time because they were used for dresses, blankets, and ceremonial outfits. Back in time, women were often given...
